screamo is more closely tied to post-hardcore and bands like fugazi and neil perry than it is to what most people think of as screamo (like Alexisonfire and Underoath)
true screamo = "skramz" ie Raein, Daitro, Pianos, Ampere, etc...
Here's some true screamo for you: Grade. They are one of the only bands you can simply classify as screamo. RIP!

Screamo IS a genre. It's just not any of the -core genres which many people think are 'screamo'. lol.
Uhh... While you guys are arguing over what screamo is, which is a pretty stupid conversation because if you listen to bands like Pg. 99, Saetia, CTTS, Orchid, or Off Minor you know what screamo is...Is this album any good?
The definition of screamo has simply changed with the use of the word which now describes any band with screaming in their material. Don't blame me, blame everyone who has been defining it as such.
